5th ROAR post

Summary
In my Roar book I read until the finishing point of the book which was very interesting. Bones after leaving went back to Iman for a few days after they decided to go to Jamaica. On their arrival to Jamaica they spent a few days wondering around until they got in touch with Chappies father. When staying at his father's house he lives with a woman who's a whore that had sex with both Iman and Bones. After this Iman was killed for selling fake weed to fellow people from Jamaica. After all this Bones went out on his own and called Russ to speak with him. Russ was the same but a few tragic events happened to where he wants to go to Jamaica with Bones. Bones in addition calls Froggy(Rose)'s mom to check up on her but she died as well. He became furious but kept on his journey on his own. He ended by staying with Captain ave and his little business. Bones decided that he'll be happy no matter where he ends up because everything makes him who he is. He as well looks up at the stars who tell a story about his dead friends and when he needs guidance he just asks the Iman star, that guides him through.
Quotation
"First Adirondack Iron passed into the dark, and then Sister Rose, and finally Lion-I. They were gone and I missed them but even so I was very happy. For the rest of my life no matter where on the planet earth I went and no matter how scared or confused I got, I could wait until dark and look up into the night sky and see my three friends again and my heart would swell with love of them and make me strong and clearheaded"(Banks 380-90).
Reaction
My reaction to this quotation is that Chappie has learned from now on to only depend on himself. He knows that at the end no one but him will always be there and support him. He has grown to learn that if he's born alone , he's going to die alone too. He grew up from how he was before and that made him stronger even though he makes dumb decisions. He needs to learn to make better decisions because his poor decision making is what got him to be counting on destiny. Although he makes poor decisions he follows existentialist since he sticks with his choice. He decides to choose destiny and that's what he does since he goes where the wind takes him.

  1. ironic that Bone speaks of being "clearheaded" as so much of the book revolves around weed.

"-ist" the person who follows "-ism" a way of living
